ITANAGAR, Jan 6: The All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has demanded immediate cancellation of the land allotment order granted against the tennis court near IG Park here.
In a representation to the chief minister, the ANSU strongly condemned such “nepotism and anti-democratic move by the state government” and expressed disappointment over the allotment of land in the tennis court area, which is used by various organisations and civil society groups to stage democratic protests.
In its representation, the ANSU said the union “and the Nyishi community as a whole” have an emotional and social affinity with the area in question.
“Your government and respected office might have the historical knowledge that our Nyishi martyr late Heri Tai, who was martyred in 2011 in our society’s movement, was buried at the allocated land,” it said.
Expressing opposition to the granting of allotment to the state BJP and the Wado Kai Karate Association, the ANSU sought to know how the authority concerned granted land allotment to any organization in the months of April and December 2018, when land allotment to many genuine applicants in the capital complex has been put on hold because of the “blanket ban on issuance of LPC and land allotment order under capital complex.”
The ANSU also demanded immediate issuance of allotment orders to all the genuine applicants for land allotment in the capital complex, and granting of allotment of the plot containing the cemetery of late Heri Tai to the ANSU, so that it may later be used for establishing a “Nyishi museum or Heri Tai Complex.”
