Villagers claim compensation not disbursed to genuinely affected

ITANAGAR, Jan 13: A section of villagers from Hayuliang and Khupa in Anjaw district and from Loiliang and Daughat in Lohit district has claimed that compensation against the 15 km Khupa-Matengliang-Hunli road under the Trans-Arunachal Highway project in Anjaw district has not been disbursed to the people genuinely affected by the project.
In a release, the villagers said on Tuesday that, despite their objections in a complaint letter submitted to the Anjaw deputy commissioner in April 2015 regarding the joint survey which had been conducted on 11 and 12 April, 2011, and despite their appeal for conducting a fresh survey, the administration went ahead and released the compensation “even when there were outright objections.”
“The administration had summoned two meetings in connection with the land dispute to solve the matter at the ADC Hayuliang office on 17 April, 2015, and 13 May, 2015, but no decision was arrived at; but shockingly, compensation was disbursed on 27 May, 2015.
“The compensation was released based on the earlier joint survey. Also the public notice for the disbursement of compensation was served on 27 May, 2015, and on the same day the beneficiary received the amount,” the villagers alleged.
