RGU foundation day

RONO HILLS, Feb 1: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) is all set to observe its 36th foundation day on 4 February at its Rono Hills campus.
Founder of New Delhi-based Sulabh International Social Service Organization, Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, will deliver the foundation day lecture on the topic ‘Education, social action, sanitation and public hygiene: Sulabh’s key contributions to nation-building’.
GVVSDS Prasad, secretary of Gandhi Darshan, Hyderabad, will present a talk on ‘Nai talim and Gandhi Darshan on education’.
Governor BD Mishra, who is the chief rector of the university, will also attend the programme.
RGU Vice Chancellor, Prof Saket Kushwaha, who is taking stock of the preparations, informed that presentation of ‘best employees awards’ in various categories would be one of the features of the celebration.
The celebration will also feature creative games, sports and cultural programmes.
RGU Registrar (in-charge) Prof Tomo Riba informed that, this year, the employees’ association of the university (RGUEA) will be the nodal organiser of the celebration.
“RGU, the lone central university in the state, is an affiliating university by nature. Presently, 41 colleges and institutes offering varied courses in the state are affiliated to the university, which is home to 26 departments under nine broad faculties, besides a few centres offering a range of courses,” RGU Joint Registrar (Academic & Conference) Dr David Pertin informed, adding that the university has B Grade accreditation from the NAAC.
