GO takes stock of poll preparedness

PASIGHAT, Mar 26: General observer (GO) Anwaruddin Choudhury on Tuesday visited here in East Siang district and took stock of the activities related to election preparedness.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kinny Singh conducted a series of meetings with magistrates, police officers, nodal officers and public leaders.
Singh urged all stakeholders to ensure successful completion of the poll process, and asked the political parties to comply with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and cooperate with the administration in conducting the simultaneous parliamentary and assembly elections.
The DC has issued an order prohibiting the use of plastic materials during election campaigns, and has directed all the political parties and candidates to obtain prior permission before using public address systems or loudspeakers. She has also directed that prior permission be obtained for vehicles to be engaged for electioneering purposes.
“Not more than 10 vehicles should be used in a convoy,” the order read.
According to official sources, 2075 firearms have been deposited till Tuesday in East Siang district. (DIPRO)
