ITANAGAR, Apr 25: Chief Secretary Satya Gopal submitted the status reports on the projects under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources and the North Eastern Special Infrastructure Development Scheme of the ministry of development of northeastern region (DoNER) in Arunachal Pradesh during a review meeting convened by DoNER Secretary Inder Jit Singh here on Wednesday.
While reviewing the projects’ status, Singh urged the senior officers of the state to come up with “substantial big-ticket projects with potential transformational ideas which will have major impact in the overall growth and development of the state.”
He also urged the officers to make qualitative improvements during projects’ implementation and monitoring “by avoiding cost and time overruns.”
The DoNER secretary also reviewed the implementation the livelihood programmes in the state, and the progress of various programmes in aspirational districts like Namsai.
Singh was accompanied by Joint Secretaries JK Sinha and Saurabh Endley, and Director Umesh Kumar.
Gopal submitted some of the practical issues for consideration by the DoNER ministry, and requested the delegates to increase the fund allocation to the state, especially in the water supply, education, health and connectivity sectors.
The CS also apprised the delegates of the dire need of an institute like the AIIMS in the state, “which will serve as an iconic institute for not only Arunachal Pradesh but also the entire Northeast.”
All the senior officers of the state, including Principal Secretary AC Verma, Planning Secretary NT Glow, Commissioners Bilatee Pertin and Marnya Ete, secretaries, chief engineers and directors were present at the meeting. (CSO)
