APSCW demands severe punishment for rapists

ITANAGAR, May 7: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has expressed deep anguish over the reports of the rape of a septuagenarian woman and a mentally challenged minor girl in West Siang district recently.
A 70-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a youth in Higi Bagra village on 28 April, and a 12-year-old mentally challenged girl was raped by a minor boy in Peri village in Kamba circle on 19 April.
Expressing grave concern over the increase in such crimes against women, APSCW Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi demanded severe punishment for the rapists.
The commission urged the West Siang SP to expedite the investigation process and deliver justice to the victims and their families.
It appealed to all sections of society to cooperate with the police in the investigation.
