Marathon held as part of Dree festival celebration

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: As part of the Dree festival celebration, the Capital Complex Dree Festival Celebration Committee (CCDFC) organized the first ever Dree marathon, with the theme ‘Run for communal harmony’, on Saturday.
The run started from the old Dree ground here and culminated at the main Dree ground in Papu Nallah. It saw the participation of over 50 runners from all walks of life, including from Assam.
Habung Nyipa took the first position in the open category, followed by Bamo Tanang and Koj Opo in the second and third position, respectively.
In the women’s category, Mananya Pansa emerged the winner, while Ngamnyo Wangsa and Taro Sumpa stood second and third, respectively.
Besides 10 consolation prizes, two special prizes were given to the oldest and the youngest participants in the run, which went to the father-son duo of Dr Kago Gambo (50) and Kago Mobin (10).
Earlier, Galo Welfare Society general secretary Marcony Potom flagged off the run, and lauded the CCDFC for successfully organizing the event.
He also distributed the prizes to all the winners.
