ROING, Jul 2: The district level U-17 Subroto Cup Football Tournament for both boys and girls for Lower Dibang Valley district began at the Meka government secondary school playground here on Tuesday.
After kicking off the tournament, Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom advised all to take proactive part in school level games and sports activities, “so that talented ones can make career out of sports in future.”
Taking into account the insufficient funds provided for the conduct of the tournament, the DC informed that it is being dovetailed with the CMSSY in the district to meet the expenses of providing the jerseys, equipments, travelling expenses and food and lodging to encourage the participating teams.
Eleven boys’ and 10 girls teams from the secondary and higher secondary schools of the district are participating in the tournament, informed DDSE Ego Doye.
The winners in both the categories will represent the district in the state level tournament, he said. (DIPRO)
