Min calls for promoting Kho kho

ITANAGAR, Jul 27: Education Minister Taba Tedir emphasized on ensuring the growth of Kho kho sport in the state.
Chairing a meeting of the Kho kho Association of Arunachal (KKAA) here on Saturday, Tedir, who is also the KKAA president, said “since Kho kho is one of the oldest indigenous sports that originated in India, it needs to be played in every games and sports event held in the state.”
Stating that he would extend all possible assistance for the growth of the sport, the minister said the education department needs to introduce Kho kho in every school and let the children participate in it during sports meets.
Tedir said he would discuss with the government to support the sport and provide assistance to promote it.
Programmes and guidelines for conducting Kho kho in the district and state levels were also discussed.
It was also decided during the meeting that a state level Kho kho tournament would be held in October.
