Trg on food hygiene under MDM imparted

KHONSA, Jul 29: As many as 161 cooks-cum-helpers from different government schools participated in a training programme on ‘Food hygiene for cook-cum-helper of government schools under the midday meal (MDM) scheme’ conducted here by the Tirap DDSE on Monday.
Highlighting the importance of the training, DDSE Pubi Lombi expressed appreciation for the various schemes in the education department being implemented by the state and the central governments.
He informed that Chief Minister Pema Khandu has announced enhancement of the honorarium of cooks-cum-helpers from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2000 per month.
MO Dr Sompha Sumpa imparted training on how to prepare hygienic midday meals and serve them to the children. He emphasized on “stepwise hand-wash with soap before and after food, timely cutting of nails, hairs and moustache, etc, to ensure total hygiene.”
Dr Sumpa also advised the cooks and helpers to keep the kitchen’s surroundings clean.
Food & Civil Supplies Inspector Chow Khum Insha advocated properly checking the supplied food grains to ensure that the quality of the food items being provided under the MDM is in order.
He advised the cooks-cum-helpers to keep the food grains in dry and safe places. (DIPRO)
