ITANAGAR, Aug 5: IX Pirates and Tirbin United FC won their matches against SPD FC and Taksing-Tagru SC, respectively, in the Independence Day football trophy tournament played here on Monday.
IX Pirates defeated their opponent 3-1. The scores remained 1-1 at halftime, but IX Pirates’ Phassang Tama netted two goals in the second half.
Tirbin United FC defeated Taksing-Tagru SC 5-4. The teams were locked 4-4 until the last minute. An own goal from Taksing Tagru SC cost the team the game, according to the organizers.
Chimpu FC will be up against Panthers FC at 2 pm on Tuesday, before SPD FC take on Ward No 2 at 3:30 pm.
