MLA, DC interact with selected players
AALO, Sep 4: Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak and West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan interacted with players that have been selected from West Siang district to participate in the seventh edition of the Dorjee Khandu Memorial Badminton Championship, scheduled to be held at Itanagar from 6 September.
Giving words of advice to the players during a function held at the DC’s conference hallhere in West Siang district on Wednesday,Karbak stressed on giving equal importance to games and sports as the government has kept reservations for talented sportspersons.
“Attractive cash prizes and post up to the rank of Dy SP are reserved on the basis of performance by sportspersons in the national and international levels,” he informed.
Additionally, the MLA also volunteered to sponsor Rs 1 lakh for the participating badminton team.
The DC also stressed on recruiting good coaches for the budding sports-persons in different fields.
District badminton association vice president Yompe Ado and additional general secretary Lee Sora spelt out the series of tournaments organized in the district to select all categories of badminton players. (DIPRO)
