1 arrested in theft case

KHONSA, Sep 9: The police on Monday arrested one Rajiv Mophuk @ Lowang from the market area here in Tirap district in connection with a theft case, and recovered a few stolen items.
A case of theft had been lodged at the police station here on 6 September by one Racho Rina, a teacher at the GHSS here, stating that some miscreants had broken into her government quarters near the power house, between 10 am and 12:30 pm on 5 September, when she was out on duty, and took away a laptop, two mobile phones, several household items and some cash.
After registering the FIR, a police team led by Inspector Tomai Wangpan rounded up several suspects and interrogated them. After receiving a tip-off, the team laid a trap to apprehend the suspect, who was supposed to arrive at a shop to make a deal for selling the stolen laptop, and arrested the suspect when he arrived there.
On being interrogated, Mophuk admitted to committing the offence, the police said. Based on his disclosure, the police recovered a laptop and several household items.
On further interrogation, it has been ascertained that the accused was also wanted in Khonsa PS Case No 33/18 u/s 323/354 (A)(l)(i)(ii)/354 B/34 IPC r/w Section 12/17 of the POSCO Act, 2012, and had been absconding.
Meanwhile, the Tirap SP commended his team and assured to reward them suitably. (DIPRO)
