Students stage rally seeking teachers

LONGDING, Sep 12: The Longding District Students’ Union organised a rally here on Thursday, seeking immediate posting of teachers at the government schools in Pongchau, Wakka, Longding and Kanubari.
The students marched to the DDSE office, where members of the union submitted a memorandum to the DDSE, citing how the shortage of teachers is affecting the students of the district.
The union stated in the memorandum that “29 government primary schools within Longding district are being run by single teachers,” adding that there is shortage of subject teachers in all the secondary and higher secondary schools of the district.
“This,” the union said, “is one of the significant factors behind the deteriorating educational scenario in Longding district.”
