CS directs DCs to visit project sites

ITANAGAR, Sep 19: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on Thursday directed the deputy commissioners of the border districts to visit project sites, especially those that are important from the security point of view, and submit reports every alternate month, in order to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
The CS was speaking during a meeting of the state level screening committee on the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) at the civil secretariat here.
During the meeting, which was attended by Principal Secretary AC Verma, the DCs or their representatives, district planning officers, and others, Kumar asked the DCs to propose schemes “which will have a strong and long-lasting impact on the villagers in the border areas.”
He also directed them to select a village in each of the border blocks of their districts to be developed as a model village under the BADP.
Later, the DCs of Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, Shi-Yomi, Upper Siang, Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley, and Anjaw, which have international borders with China and are implementing schemes under the BADP, made PowerPoint presentations on their 2019-20 annual action plans.
The committee approved most of the schemes, except for those in the agriculture and allied sectors which will be merged with schemes under the line departments.
The committee also reviewed the status of the VKV projects in Mukto (Tawang), Nafra (West Kameng), Boo (Dibang Valley) and other areas, besides the ongoing and completed projects under the BADP in the districts. (CSO)
