State’s Wushu players call on CM

ITANAGAR, Sep 23: Players from the state’s Wushu team which recently participated in the Junior National Wushu Championship in Chandigarh, Punjab, called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu at his office here on Monday.
The chief minister congratulated the team for winning eight gold, six silver and two bronze medals in the championship. He also congratulated the All Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association (AAPWA) “for leading the team to a great victory.”
Khandu said the state government will introduce Wushu in the upcoming sports academy in eastern Arunachal, besides in the SAI’s Special Area Games Centre in Naharlagun and the Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy in Chimpu.
He also informed that Wushu is among the martial arts disciplines that will be introduced in the martial arts academy to be established soon in Arunachal, as announced recently by the union sports ministry.
Khandu said all infrastructural issues of the sports academy are being addressed, “so that the players from the state face no shortage in any facility.”
Wishing the players the best in their upcoming matches, the CM assured them of all support from the state government.
AAPWA president Toko Teki and Arunachal Olympic Association secretary-general Abraham K Techi have also congratulated the team. (CMO)
