Training prog on poultry organised

MAHADEVPUR-III, Sep 26: Members of the livestock growers’ association of Namsai district participated in a ‘Training-cum-demonstration of poultry egg hatching in incubator’ organized by the KVK at Mahadevpur-III village on Thursday.
The programme was aimed at “meeting the available of quality day-old chick (DOC) at locality with low price,” according to a release from the Namsai KVK.
The KVK had earlier provided a hatchery unit of 1000 eggs to the livestock growers’ association under the tribal sub-plan project funded by the ICAR.
During the training programme, animal science specialist Dr Binod Kr Dutta explained “the various factors responsible for better hatchability of poultry eggs, starting from production of quality fertile eggs to production of quality DOC.”
He also demonstrated “the technicality of incubator to maintain temperature and humidity for at least 21 days with turning of eggs upto 18 days.”
The KVK said the farmers were “satisfied with the initiative for production of quality chicks, since most of the farmers rear birds with improved germplasm (Kalinga Brown) that was also provided by the KVK, Namsai, got difficulties at the time of hatching as mother bird hatch small number of birds at a time.”
The association’s CEO, Rituparna Deori, spoke about “the plan of work to be performed by the growers’ association to fulfill the demand of quality meat and eggs,” and FPO-NOSAAP CEO Athina Chauhai encouraged the farmers to take up scientific poultry farming, it said.
