DC stresses on full coverage under NDD

AALO, Sep 27: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan has stressed on ensuring coverage of children of all age groups under the National Deworming Day (NDD) programme.
She was speaking during the launch of the NDD programme at Parents’ Hope English Academy School in Dego Kamki here on Wednesday. She also launched the Poshan Maah and the Ayushman Bharat Pakhwada (ABP) from the Dego Kamki dere on the same day.
Sachan urged all stakeholders to take up the national flagship programmes seriously and “ensure their cent percent implementation in the district.”
DMO Dr Moli Riba said the ABP encompasses a series of people-centric health welfare measures, and advised everyone to “reap maximum benefit from the programmes.”
Deputy Director (in-charge) Bahe Koyu asked all the anganwadi centres to work in collaboration with the stakeholders at various levels to provide nutrition to mothers and children.
DFWO Dr Tomar Kamki sensitized parents and children to worm-related ailments, and sought cooperation from teachers, parents and the public in administering the doses to children. DSO (Surveillance) Dr Jumbom Kato spoke on substance abuse and its effects on society.
Former minister Lijum Ronya, GBs, and anganwadi workers of Kamba also attended the programme.
Later, a health check-up was carried out for the public.
In East Siang HQ Pasighat, the health & family welfare department in collaboration with the women & child development and education departments launched the NDD on Friday.
During the programme, ASHAs educated the participating villagers on the importance of the NDD, and urged them to make sure that no child, including school dropouts, in the villages is missed out during the ongoing mop-up round till 30 September. (DIPROs)
