HAA to be launched on 2 Oct

ITANAGAR, Sep 28: The home department is all set to launch its Humara Arunachal Abhiyan (HAA), to create a safer and secure Arunachal, on 2 October, commemorating the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, at IG Park here.
“The mission, with the tagline ‘Chalo banaye behtar Arunachal’, is a cradle of the citizens and the police joining hands for building a cohesive atmosphere in the state which is safe, secure and serene,” Home Minister Bamang Felix said at a pre-launch meeting with representatives of community-based organisations (CBO) at the PHQ here on Friday.
It will bring together people from every strata of the society to create a beautiful Arunachal of our dreams, he said.
“Through this campaign, all stakeholders will try becoming responsible citizens, promote police-public partnership, remove the stigma attached
with the police, strengthen bonhomie among the diverse communities, curb drug menace, domestic violence, child abuse and crimes against women, ensure traffic management, etc,” Felix said, highlighting the objectives the HAA.
He appealed to the CBOs to be part of the ambitious campaign, saying “no campaign will see the light of the day until the core backbone of each and every society is wholeheartedly involved.”
Representatives from 17 major tribes, led by the Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum, who attended the meeting, assured the minister of their support to and wholehearted participation in the mission.
Earlier, DIGP Apur Bitin briefed about the police’s initiatives in the state.
Among others, Home Secretary CN Longphai attended the meeting.
