National nutrition month comes to a close

ITANAGAR, Sep 30: The national nutrition month celebration by the Itanagar ICDS project came to a close with an awareness progamme at Hokka village in Jullang on Monday.
The officers and the officials of the WCD, PHE&WS departments and the IDCS cell, including WCD Secretary Niharika Rai and WCD Director TP Loyi, went on a field visit and interacted with the pre-school kids, pregnant and lactating mothers of the anganwadi centre.
Apart from distributing fruits to the pregnant and lactating mothers, the visiting officials also planted fruit bearing trees in the premises of the anganwadi centre.
They also participated in a mass cleanliness drive organized under “Swachhta Hi Seva’a at Hokka market area.
Other officials were deputy director (HQ) Nyapi Ringu, Yupia ICDS cell deputy director Aryoma Llowangcha and PHE&WS AE Tad Logi.
The urban ICDS project, led by CDPO Jaya Taba organized a series of awareness programmes on nutrition, health, hygiene and sanitation during the nutrition month.
In Lohit, a ‘Poshan Mela’ was organized at Telluliang community hall to mark the conclusion of the nutrition month celebration.
Tezu MLA T Krisikro, Assistant Commissioner Sunny Singh, officers of from the district administration, the HoDs and the representatives from line departments, like health and family welfare, education, agriculture, PHED, DRDA, DUDA, field publicity office attended the programme.
ICDS deputy director Savitri Khamti Linggi explained the aims and objective of the programme.
All head of departments and representative of line departments spoke on importance of nutrition.
All the line departments put up their stalls displaying nutritional items. The stall put up by the ICDS grabbed the first two positions, while the Emanual SHG of ARSLM bagged the third position.
Later, MLA Krisikro distributed the prizes to the winners.
