Congress observes Martyrdom Day

ITANAGAR, Oct 31: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) observed Martyrdom Day here on Thursday to mark the death anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.
Gandhi was assassinated on this day, 35 years ago.
APCC president Nabam Tuki, along with senior Congress leaders and workers, paid floral tributes to Gandhi’s portrait and observed two minutes’ silence as a mark of respect.
“Indira Gandhi was a true patriot. She will always be remembered as an iron lady and the strongest prime minister of the country,” said senior Congress leader James Wanglat.
APCC general secretary Mina Toko highlighted Gandhi’s famous speech, which she had given a day before her assassination.
