Natung inaugurates karate academy

CHIMPU, Nov 17: A new academy of martial arts – the Marik Academy of Shito-Ryu Karate – was inaugurated here on Saturday by Sports Minister Mama Natung.
Natung, a gold medallist in karate at the NE level and a brown belt holder, was conferred an honorary black belt by the Seiko-Kai Karate International India on the occasion.
The belt was presented to him by Karate Association of India president Likha Tara.
Expressing happiness over being conferred an honorary black belt, Natung said it had always been his dream to win a black belt in karate but could not pursue it owing to personal reasons.
The inauguration programme was also attended by State Election Commission Secretary Nyali Ete, Sports Director Tadar Appa, Arunachal Olympic Association founder secretary TT Tara, IT Director Neelam Yapin Tana, and officials from various state-level sports organizations.
