‘Sports Carnival’ starts in Yomcha

YOMCHA, Nov 17: Sports Minister Mama Natung inaugurated the 4th edition of the ‘Sports Carnival’ at the general ground here in West Siang district on Thursday.
In his inaugural address, the minister said the event “should go a long way to spot talented sportspersons who could be absorbed in government jobs also.”
He lauded Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak “for conceiving the noble idea of starting the annual sports event for talented sportspersons from far-flung areas,” and also urged the people to make the best use of the land “which can be turned beneficial through the agriculture, horticulture and tourism departments.”
Responding to a memorandum seeking construction of mini-stadiums in Yomcha and Liromoba, Natung said he would “positively look into it.”
Karbak in his address enumerated the developmental programmes undertaken during his tenure, and sought cooperation from the people of his constituency to carry out more such programmes.
Yomcha ADC Atul Tayeng also spoke.
