AIZAWL, Nov 22: Arunachal’s Huri John (52 kg) had to contend with the silver medal after he lost his final bout at the 65th National School Games Boxing (Boys U-17) here in Mizoram on Friday.
He lost to local favourite Laldingsanga by a 3-2 split decision.
On Thursday, Taw Pakba won a bronze medal for the state after he lost by a 3-2 split decision to his opponent from Chandigarh in the semifinal.
Meanwhile, a 10-member team of young boxers from the state left here for Haryana to participate in the 65th National School Games Boxing (Boys U-14), to be held in Karnal from 25-29 November.
Dani Tamang and Gumen Gara are the coach and the manager of the team.
The team: Raj Licha (30-32 kg), Abu Tani Natung (32-34 kg), Bhupesh Sangno (34-36 kg), Lokum Kamda (36-38 kg), Tatung Lokam (38-40 kg), Tyson Natung (40-42 kg), Ruba Juja (42-44 kg), John Lupung (44-46 kg), Niya Rianc (46-48 kg), and Nangram Naga (48-50 kg).
