Seminar on state’s cultural heritage held

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Resource persons including Sanskar Bharati Arunachal Pradesh (SBAP) president Tayi Taggu, SBAP vice-president Sukhdev Biswas, Sanskar Bharati Poorvottar Kshetra pramukh Dhananjay Kusre, singers Bengia Hemanto and Jomnya Siram, and theatre director Dayal Krishna Nath delivered lectures during an ‘artists meet-cum-seminar on cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh’ at the DK convention hall here on Saturday.
Sahitya Akademi awardee YD Thongchi inaugurated the programme, which was organized by the SBAP to mark the birth centenary of Dr Vishnu Sridhar Wakankar.
Dr Wakankar was an Indian archaeologist. In 1957, he discovered the Bhimbetka rock caves. In 2003, the UNESCO listed the Bhimbetka rock caves as a World Heritage Site.
The Bhimbetka rock caves exhibit the earliest traces of human life in India.
