ITANAGAR, Nov 27: A team of the State Food Commission (SFC) officials led by its chairman Dr. L Wangchuk and accompanied by its members N Jamoh, Rillang Chege and BEO T. Dagan inspected a number of govt. schools in and around Itanagar on Wednesday in order to check implementation of MDM scheme and spread awareness about cleanliness.
During the inspection conducted at Govt. Middle School, E.S.S sector, Govt. Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Arunodaya, GHSS, Police Colony, GHSS, Ganga village and Vivekanada Kendra Vidhayala, Chimpu, Itanagar, the team found that MDM was being served to all students till class-VIII, and sometimes to students up to class- X-XII.
The team, however, urged the school authorities to improve cleanliness of toilets and drinking water facilities.
The school authorities on their part, highlighted the difficulties faced by them to the visiting team, which included lack of funds to engage sweepers etc.
Further, the team found VKV School, Chimpu to be the best in the implementation of MDM along with cleanliness and hygiene.
