Census coordination committee meets

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on Tuesday chaired a video conference of the state-level census coordination committee.
Addressing the participants, Census Director Dr Joram Beda said that “this time data collection by enumerators will be done through mobile application, in addition to paper format.”
He informed that, according to the state government, “house listing will be done from 15 April to 31 May, 2020.”
“The state government has already notified its intent to conduct census and appoint various officers. Further, all deputy commissioners will be the principal census officer of the district concerned,” Dr Beda informed.
The CS directed the DCs to “finalize the district and circle boundaries as early as possible,” as per the instructions of the registrar general of India (RGI), “except Lower Siang, which is being already taken up by state government.”
Kumar directed the town planning department to finalize the maps of 33 statutory towns of the state with the help of the state remote sensing application centre. He also directed that “there has to be digitization of all district, subdivision, block and village maps.”
Informing that the training of the master trainers appointed by the DCs would commence on 2 December in Guwahati (Assam), the CS directed the officials to attend the training.
The video conference was attended by state nodal officer Himanshu Gupta, Planning Secretary SK Jain, the UD secretary, the IT secretary, officers of New Delhi-based RGI, and all DCs of the state.
