Trg on youth leadership underway

YINGKIONG, Nov 29: The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) is organising a three-day ‘intensive training on youth leadership and community development’ programme, which got underway here in Upper Siang district on Friday.
The programme, which was inaugurated by SMO Dr Appir Apang, is aimed at building the capacity of and developing leadership qualities among youths.
Addressing the participants, Yingkiong CO Philip Jerang spoke on topics related to moral values, character-building, national integration, patriotism, communal harmony, etc, and stressed the need to “inculcate moral values among youths and their character-building for the betterment of the society and the nation.”
Various social and cultural issues affecting the society, and the role of the youths, were also discussed.
The NYK’s district youth coordinator, Tapun Taki, highlighted the kendra’s activities, and various flagship programmes of the Centre.
He advised the volunteers and the youths who are attending the programme to “form a youth club and a mahila mandal in their respective villages, and conduct awareness programmes.” (DIPRO)
