Libang launches maternity prog Matru Vandana

DOIMUKH, Dec 2: Health Minister Alo Libang launched “Matru Vandana Saptah”– a weeklong maternity benefit programme taken under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) at Doimukh on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Libang informed that Matru Vandana Saptah is being celebrated across the nation from 2 to 8 December, during which enrollment of all eligible beneficiaries, especially pregnant women and lactating mothers would be carried out.
Libang informed that under the scheme, Rs 5000 is provided to the accounts of the beneficiaries in three installments though DBT for first child.
He appealed to all the stakeholders, including the GBs and village level workers to sensitize the people about the schemes and avail its benefits.
The minister also requested the health as well as WCD departments to work in close co-ordination with each other to make the celebration a success.
Later, he distributed nutrition baskets to pregnant and lactating mothers present on the occasion.
MLA Tana Hali Tara who also spoke on the occasion and requested the WCD and health departments to sensitize the people in remote areas so that they can also avail the benefits of scheme. He also gave away prizes to winners of running competition.
Earlier, WCD Director Tokmem Pertin Loyi highlighted the importance of celebrating the Matru Vandana Saptah.
Present on the occasion, among others, were Papum Pare DC Pige Ligu, SDO Mokar Riba, DMO Dr Subu Tasso Kampu.
