Representation to CM demanding deletion of non-APST settlers from electoral roll

ITANAGAR, Dec 3: The All Arunachal Pradesh Anti-Corruption Students Union (AAPACSU) and All Yobin Students Union (AYSU) have in a joint representation submitted to the Chief Minister on Tuesday, reiterated demands for deletion of ex-Assam Rifles settlers’ names from Panchayat electoral rolls in Vijoynagar circle, Changlang district and urged the state government not to renew the land lease to the settlers anymore.
“The state government’s decisive action will prevent a lot of the state’s future problems. The demand is constitutional and deserves to be upheld for the greater interest of the state,” the student bodies stated.
Copies of the said representation were also separately submitted to the minister for Panchayati Raj and Home, state chief secretary and state chief election commissioner by the student bodies.
Earlier, the two orgs had launched an indefinite hunger strike since 27 November last which was called off on 2 December, following the intervention of Home Minister Bamang Felix.
