VAT discrepancies detected

ITANAGAR, Dec 6: The enforcement wing of the tax, excise & narcotics department has detected VAT dues amounting to Rs 1,23,58,119.
According to a report from the department, it realized taxes amounting to Rs 20,70,606, while a notice for depositing dues amounting to Rs 1,02,87,513 has been issued to the defaulters.
Meanwhile, the wing, led by Tax & Excise Deputy Commissioner Tanon Tatak, imparted hands-on training on the e-way bill system to the department’s officials in Changlang, Namsai, Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley and East Siang districts recently. It imparted the training to the officials at Changlang, Namsai, Tezu, Roing and Pasighat by checking the e-way bills of goods vehicles online.
Mandated under the Arunachal Pradesh Goods & Services Act, 2017, the e-way bill system is an important tool to check tax evasion.
The goods & services tax network has started blocking generation of e-way bills for registered taxpayers who have failed to file two consecutive GSTR-3B returns from 2 December.
The training was imparted under the supervision of Tax, Excise & Narcotics Commissioner Kangki Darang from 24 November to 2 December. (DIPR)
