ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Governor BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have in separate messages greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Khiksabha festival of the Sherdukpen community of West Kameng district.
“In the age of global warming, age-old traditions like Khiksabha encourage all to revere their green habitat and ensure ecologically sustainable development with prudent use of natural resources,” the governor said in his message, and expressed hope that the festival would continue to motivate all to safeguard the bounties of nature.
Khandu in his message offered prayers to the deities and the mountain spirit for the wellbeing of all sentient beings. He commended the Sherdukpens for maintaining their age-old culture and traditions.
“Ours is a distinct state with several tribes and communities residing side by side for ages, maintaining their own unique indigenous cultures and traditions. I believe the celebration of Khiksaba would prove a major catalyst towards achieving the goal of unity in diversity,” he said. (Raj Bhavan & CM’s PR Cell)
