NAMSAI, Jan 7: Lekang were the winners of the boys’ and girls’ football and girls’ volleyball tournaments for the Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy (HDMT) at Namsai district level.
While Lekang beat Chongkham 5-1 in the boys’ football, they beat their opponent from the same constituency 3-0 in the girls’ football. In the girls’ volleyball, Lekang beat Namsai in straight sets.
Namsai won the boys’ volleyball trophy, defeating Lekang.
Sunday Bodo and Baslina Kishan were adjudged the best male and female football player, respectively. In volleyball, the titles of the best players in the girls’ and boys’ categories went to Nang Vishakha Mannow and Bikram Gogoi, respectively.
The winners of the tournaments in both the categories were awarded cash prize of Rs 50,000 each, while the runner-up teams were given Rs 25000 each.
The prizes were given away by Namsai DC Bijoy Talukdar and ADC O Lego during the closing ceremony held here on 4 January.
