NEW DELHI, Feb 6: Union MoS (Independent) for Youth Affairs & Sports, Kiren Rijiju, on Thursday said modalities would be worked out for development of badminton in Arunachal through the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in the coming days, informed Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) secretary-general Bamang Tago.
Tago, along with India’s junior head coach, Sanjay Mishra, had called on the minister here on Thursday and apprised him of the opportunities for overall development of sports across the state.
Meanwhile, the SAI has accredited the B Sector indoor badminton stadium and the MLA Cottage indoor badminton stadium, both in Itanagar, as badminton academies under the Khelo India Talent Identification & Development (KITD) programme.
An MoU in this regard was signed at the Khelo India head office here between KITD head Lt Col Monoj Kumar and Tago.
On 4 November, a three-member central assessment team headed by SAI Project Officer Satish Bagal had inspected the two badminton stadiums.
