Traffic regulation in Bomdila

BOMDILA, Mar 4: In an effort to minimize the traffic woes of Bomdila Township, especially in the bazaar area, the West Kameng district administration and all the stakeholders, in a meeting on Wednesday, unanimously decided to strictly regulate the entry of heavy vehicles, and the parking and no parking areas in the township.
DC Karma Leki directed the UD and Hosuing Department in the district to streamline the Bomdila shopping complex cum taxi parking lot in order to accommodate light commercial vehicles numbering in hundreds. The PWD was asked to expedite and complete the new parking lot by March in order to cope up with the parking issues, among other matters.
Instructions were also issued to the DTO to implement colouring of the taxis and their number plates within a week.
Despite shortage of manpower and traffic cell, Superintendent of Police Raja Banthia assured to depute police personnel during peak hours in the vulnerable areas in the township to regulate the traffic, besides providing training to unemployed youths to act as traffic wardens.
Earlier, a meeting on sanitation and cleanliness drive for Bomdila Township was held. (DIPRO)
