ITANAGAR, Mar 9: The All Arunachal Tourism Student’s Union has demanded that the state government ensure early recruitment of district tourism officers (DTO), tourist information officers (TIO) and other official staffs in every district through competitive exams.
In a representation to the deputy chief minister, the union on Monday expressed disappointment over the state government’s alleged inaction in “tackling the problem of rising unemployment rate of tourism and motel management degree holders of the state.”
“Approximately 10,000 unemployed youths are awaiting job advertisement in the department of tourism. Whereas the state as of now has 25 districts, half of the districts do not have the requisite DTOs, TIOs and other official staffs. Many tourism professional degree holders are frustrated due to lack of job opportunity and non-recruitment of Group B posts through the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination for the last five years,” it said.
