ITANAGAR, Mar 29: Relief materials have been provided to all the families who have been rendered homeless after the fire accident that occurred in Kaying, in Siang district, on 25 March, Siang DC Rajeev Takuk said.
Temporary houses for the affected families are being built and are likely to be completed within a couple of days, Takuk said.
“They are currently taking shelter in their relatives’ houses,” he said.
The team assessing the properties lost and damaged is likely to submit its report by 31 March, the DC informed.
MP Tapir Gao has announced Rs 15 lakhs from his local area development fund for the affected families, while Health Minister Alo Libang has provided Rs 5.50 lakhs for their rehabilitation.
MP Kiren Rijiju has also provided Rs 2.85 lakhs to the victims, while Mariyang-Geku MLA Kanggong Taku and Pangin MLA Ojing Tasing donated Rs 1 lakh each.
Rumgong MLA Talem Taboh has assured to provide Rs 10,000 each to all the affected families, the DC said.
Earlier, MLA Ninong Ering provided Rs 1 lakh to the affected families as immediate relief, and another Rs 10 lakhs for procurement of CGI sheets.
More than 54 houses, including a community hall, were reduced to ashes in the fire.
