ITANAGAR, Oct 29: A 56-year-old male with comorbidity died at around 3:40 am at the dedicated Covid hospital (DCH) in East Siang HQ Pasighat on Thursday.
He had tested positive for Covid-19 in Bordumsa on the 28th and was suffering from uncontrolled Type 2 diabetes mellitus. He was referred to the DCH in Pasighat from Namsai with severe respiratory distress.
The body was handed over to the relatives, as per the Covid-19 protocol, for the last rites.
This is the 37th Covid-19 casualty in the state.
Meanwhile, the state recorded 88 cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, 29 of whom are symptomatic.
The Itanagar capital region (ICR) reported 32 cases, of which 10 cases were reported from the flu clinic at the TRIHMS, seven from the Donyi Polo Ashok testing centre, four each from the flu clinic at Niba Hospital and the Banderdewa check gate, three from the flu clinic at the RKMH, and one case each from the flu clinic at Heema Hospital, the district jail in Jully, Frontier Diagnostic Pvt Lab, and the UPHC in Rakap Colony in Naharlagun.
East Siang reported 12 cases. Eight of them were reported from the flu clinic at the BPGH in Pasighat. Three others are primary contacts of positive cases detected earlier, while one tested positive at the flu clinic of the Mebo CHC.
West Siang registered nine cases. Four of them are returnees from the ICR, while three are primary contacts of positive cases detected earlier and two were reported from the flu clinic at the general hospital in Aalo.
Four cases each were reported from Upper Subansiri, Papum Pare, Lower Dibang Valley and Lohit districts.
Tawang, Upper Siang, Tirap and Changlang reported three cases each, while Pakke-Kessang and Lower Subansiri reported two cases each.
One case each was reported from Kra Daadi, West Kameng and Longding (see detailed bulletin).
On Thursday, 143 people were also declared to have recovered, and the number of active cases has come down to 2,008.
