NAMSAI, 15 Mar: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday said the budget this year has put special focus on women’s welfare with an allocation of Rs 313 crore across 14 departments.
Attending the state executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha here, Khandu encouraged the women to apply for the state government’s schemes on entrepreneurship, in which an additional five percent interest subsidy
is provided to women entrepreneurs under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swavalamban Yojana.
The chief minister advised the women party workers to imbibe the spirit of “nation first, party second and self last.”
He said the BJP’s ideals make one work better for the society and the country.
Referring to the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, ‘Choose to challenge’, the chief minister urged the women to challenge themselves to bring change and betterment.
Khandu said that, hadn’t he challenged himself to complete the blacktopping of the Naharlagun-Itanagar four-lane road by March this year, the work would have been kept pending for long. Further choosing to challenge, the CM vowed to make motorable roads reach Tali in Kra Daadi district and Vijaynagar in Changlang district.
The CM further spoke on the drug menace, polygamy and women’s rights to parental properties. He also spoke on the importance of training and said it is necessary to define and understand one’s role.
