Narcotic drug seized, five apprehended

KHONSA 5 May: Acting on a tip-off, the anti-drug squad of the Tirap unit police apprehended five persons with suspected narcotic substances during raids conducted against narcotic substances in various locations in Tirap district on Tuesday.

The police recovered 29.24 grams of suspected brown sugar from apprehended persons identified as Raatwang and Singkai, while 9.26 grams of suspected brown sugar was recovered from the possession of a person, named Sanjit.

Additionally, 604 grams of suspected opium (smeared in cloth) have been seized from two persons identified as Lucy and Nyajin.

Three cases under NDPS Act have been registered against the apprehended persons.

Meanwhile, Tirap SP Kardak Riba asked the drug peddlers to desist from

drug peddling or face strict action.

He appealed to the civil societies to support the Tirap police and district administration to eradicate the menace of drugs from the district.

The SP also appealed to everyone to install the drug-free Arunachal app from the Google Play Store and inform the police of any drug abuse in Tirap district.

“The identity of the informant will be kept secret and even the police will not be aware of the details of the informant,” the SP said.  (DIPRO)
