ITANAGAR, 16 May: Itanagar Capital Region DC Talo Potom informed that a few select shops selling groceries and vegetables will remain open on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Briefing the press here on Sunday, he said these shops have been identified after discussions with the mayor, the deputy mayor, corporators, panchayat leaders, etc.
The DC said that the shopkeepers will have to wear masks and gloves and should ensure that social distancing is maintained.
“People should not crowd. I assure you all that we will again open the shops in the coming days if the situation needs,” said Potom.
The DC also warned that strict action will be taken against those who sell items above the MRP.
“If we get a complaint, strict action will be taken. We will take it very seriously. People should complain to us if any shopkeepers indulge in illegal practice,” he said.
Further, the DC urged the citizens to avail online delivery service as much as possible and avoid going out.
“Only those who test negative for Covid-19 are being allowed to do home delivery. We are going to give vaccines on priority to them. Therefore, people should not worry about getting infection from delivery service,” said the DC.
He also expressed serious concern over people using medical cases as a pretext to go out. “Unfortunately, those who are going to hospitals in serious cases have to face trouble as we have to strictly check everyone because of some people who are misusing medical cases,” added Potom.
