RGUTA extends help to families in containment zone

RONO HILLS, 17 Jun: The Rajiv Gandhi University Teachers’ Association (RGUTA) collected over Rs 1,60,000 during a weeklong donation drive for providing relief to the 110 labour class families residing in RGU’s micro-containment zone.

The labourers’ colony located in F Sector was declared as a micro-containment zone after the health authority detected around 30 Covid-19 positive cases there through RAT.

The RGUTA’s executive committee members, with the help of the RGU Covid-19 task force, distributed food items and cleanliness materials amounting to around Rs 1 lakh among the families on Thursday, the association said.

“Over Rs 60,000 have been kept aside for providing relief to such economically weaker families in case Covid-19 cases emerge further in the varsity campus,” it said.

“Currently, there have been around 40 Covid-19 positive cases reported in the RGU campus,” it added.
