SBTC urges eligible persons to donate blood

ITANAGAR, 15 Jul: The State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC) has requested every eligible person to voluntarily donate blood at any blood centre in the state.

“Since science has not yet perfected any substitute for human blood, only humans can save a human being through blood donation. The power to save a fellow human being rests solely on the people with regard to need of blood. If people do not turn up for voluntary blood donations, the blood centres would remain empty,” the council said in a press release.

As per data available with the council, the total stock/collection of whole blood and packed red blood cells for the months of March to June were 2,671, with a total of 2,555 transfusions.

The SBTC lauded the voluntary blood donors for coming out to donate blood during the peak of the pandemic and saving lives.
