12-hour bandh in Kra Daadi passes peacefully

PALIN, 17 Nov: The All Kra Daadi District Students’ Union (AKDDSU) organized its first phase of a 12-hour band call in the district in response to the failure of the state government to address its charter of demands at the district headquarters here on Tuesday.

According to sources, the bandh call passed peacefully with no damage to public property and no human casualties. However, most of the commercial establishments remained closed on the day.

On 5 November, the students’ union had announced the first phase of a 12-hour Kra-Daadi district bandh during a press conference held at the press club.

The union has been demanding immediate posting of sufficient teachers and relievers at Government Higher Secondary School, Palin; approval of guest teachers proposed by the DDSE; allocation of one-time funding for infrastructure development of the district which was recently shifted from Jamin to Palin, and gazette notification for funds invested in the infrastructural development at Jamin.

The union also demanded immediate disposal of the remaining 18 posts of MTS for Kra Daadi district, which is lying under the APSSB; immediate establishment of a fire station in the district and establishment of a multipurpose educational counseling center with lodging facility in the district.
