DAPORIJO, 17 Nov: Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the district museum here in Upper Subansiri district on 15 November in the presence of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, state’s Tourism Minister Nakap Nalo and hosts of MLAs.
“Very happy to inaugurate the museum…. In the coming days, this museum will play a vital role in raising awareness among the people, particularly the younger generation about the rich cultural heritage of the people of Upper Subansiri,” Khandu said after inaugurating the museum.
The museum houses five modern and scientific galleries of basketry and household implements, ornaments, textile and headgears, weapons, metal properties and gift items.
There are around 300 cultural and ethnographic artifacts and objects on display.
Khandu also released a booklet titled, ‘A temple of cultural heritage of Upper Subansiri district.’
Director of Research Batem Pertin, Deputy Director of Research (museum & archives) Dr SK Ghosh, Assistant Curator Dr B Paul organized the programme.
