DAPORIJO, 17 Nov: Hooligans FC retained the Singik Veteran Football Cup, defeating Bakha FC 4-2 in penalty shootout in the final played at mini stadium here in Upper Subansiri district on Tuesday.
The award for the best player went to Joon Dulom of Bakha FC, while Hooligan FC’s Gemo Lollen became the highest scorer.
Gapdak Ngugnu of Hooligan FC was adjudged as the best goalkeeper.
Local MLA Taniya Soki, who along with Taliha ZPM Lonu Maying witnessed the final match, lauded the veteran players for encouraging the youths in games and sports.
He encouraged the players to take up sports professionally and make a career out of their chosen sports. The MLA also spoke on the job reservation policy of the state government for meritorious sportspersons in various government departments and advised the players to grab the opportunity.
Twelve teams participated in the tournament.
