PASIGHAT, 17 Nov: LMB United of East Siang defeated Jiya FC of Lower Dibang Valley 3-1 in the opening match of the 19th Odam Ering Memorial Football Tournament, which began at JN College playground here in East Siang district on Monday.
A total of 16 teams from East Siang and two invited teams are participating in the tournament. The invited teams are Jiya FC and Arunachal Legend from Itanagar.
The champion team will be awarded Rs 50,000 along with a trophy, while the runners-up will be given Rs 30,000 with a trophy.
The final is scheduled to be played on 26 November.
Sponsored by MLA Ninong Ering in memory of his mother Odam Ering, the tournament is being conducted by East Siang District Football Association.
Besides Ering, Boleng PWD division SE Tapi Darang, Adi Bane Kebang secretary-general Okom Yosung and Bogong-II ZPM Ogam Mengu attended the opening ceremony.
The tournament could not be organized last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
