ITANAGAR, 11 May: The government has transferred PHED executive engineer (EE) Bharat Sonam from the Seppa Division on Wednesday. Reportedly, new development came following the request from EE himself seeking his transfer from the district, so that fair investigation and action may be taken as per the fact-finding committee report.
Sonam had submitted a representation to secretary PHED on Tuesday seeking transfer.
In his letter Sonam stated, “Since last year some unscrupulous people have started targeting me and it has become my moral duty to seek transfer from Seppa.”
“Being a native from East Kameng, I had the utmost zeal and enthusiasm to serve my people once in my service career and as opportunity would have, govt. transferred me to this district to serve the people. I dedicated my life for the people of the area and tried to show exemplary work ethics to be imbibed for the posterity,” EE Sonam added.
Sonam further stated, “That a false propaganda was spread that I influenced the state machineries and superiors for not taking any actions against the allegations leveledagainst me. Such turn of events, despite my diligent services as EE PHED Seppa pained me much. Apart from tarnishing my hard earned reputation, the entire state machinery was put to question on some flimsy grounds. As such, it has become my moral duty not to continue as the Executive Engineer of PHED & WS, Seppa.”
He also clarified that none of the allegations leveled against him are true and he does not want to be seen as influencing anyone in the government in any manner as an EE or president East Kameng Social Welfare Cultural Organisation.
Activist Sol Dodum has been campaigning against the PHE & WS Seppa Division at Tennis Court Itanagar since last April, following his foot march from Seppa to Itanagar demanding clean drinking water and restoration of damaged road.
Sol later added more points in his charter of demands including transfer of EE Sonam, East Kameng deputy commissioner Pravimal Abhisek Polumatla and constitution of vigilance inquiry against EE Sonam.
Though, the government has responded to Sol by expediting laying of DI pipe at Kuchi Nallah intake point, Sol remained adamant demanding transfer of EE Sonam. Dodum made a televised announcement declaring he would walk to New Delhi if the government does not fulfill his demands.
