ADS arrests two women under NDPS Act

NAMSAI, 25 May:  Two women identified as Nang Onti Longchat @ Laxmi (29) and Nang Sila Singkai (35) have been arrested under NDPS Act by the anti-drug squad (ADS) of the police here on Wednesday.

According to a release from Namsai superintendent of police D.W.Thongon, the police at around 4 pm on Wednesday, received information from a reliable source that one Nang Onti Longchat @ Laxmi of Koseng village is selling contraband substances (heroin).

Accordingly, the ADS led by DSP(P) Kengo Dirchi along with lady constables raided the house of Nang Ongti Longchot in presence of executive magistrate Mihin Anku and independent witnesses and recovered one medium sized plastic container containing white and orange color powdery substance suspected to be contraband substance weighing approx. 5 (five) grams.

Cash amount of Rs. 10,040/- (Rupees ten thousand and forty) suspected to be sale proceeds of the contraband substance was also seized.

The accused has been booked under section 21(a) of NDPS Act.

On the same day around 4:30 pm, the police, based on information from reliable sources regarding one Nang Sila Singkai of Sengsap village selling contraband substances, also arrested her.

The ADS led by DSP(P) Kengo Dirchi and inspector Tabin Padung and lady constables raided Nang Sila Singkai’s house in presence of executive magistrate Kenge Loya and independent witnesses.

Police also seized a medium sized plastic container containing suspected contraband substance weighing approx. 11 (eleven) grams, cash amount of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees five thousand) and a syringe from her house.

The accused has been arrested under section 21(b) of NDPS Act. Both cases have been registered.
