PHC Lawnu made functional

LAWNU, 25 May: The Primary Health Centre (PHC) here under Longding district which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pema Khandu earlier in February 2022, became functional on Wednesday.

Attending the inaugural programme, Kanubari MLA Gabriel D. Wangsu lauded Longding DMO Dr. Worar Taku for his efforts in bringing significant changes in the district’s health department.

He appealed to the people of Lawnu block to make the most of the PHC at their doorstep and to stop frequenting Assam for minor ailments. He also advised against procuring medicines without proper prescription from qualified doctors.

The MLA further announced to donate one ambulance for PHC Lawnu soon and assured to sort out the network connectivity issue in the area.

He further appealed to the general public to cooperate with the medical staff.

Director health service Dr. M Lego, who is on a three days tour of the district also attended the programme.

Dr. Lego hailed the contribution of ASHAs and asked them to be more sincere and obedient in rendering their services to the society.

He also advised the staff deployed to be cordial, sympathetic and disciplined while dealing with patients in the PHC.

DMO Dr. Worar Taku, in his address hoped that the health indicators in the district would improve to a great extent following the proper functioning of the PHC.

Dr. Indu Wangcha along with 9 staff have been entrusted with the effective functioning of the PHC.

The program was also attended by Lawnu ZPM, Kanubari ADC, CO Lawnu, DRCHO, HoDs of the district, Panchayat leaders, junior surgeon Dr. Angun Tayeng, junior medicine specialist Dr. Peter Tayeng and Dr. Geetika Vashis from WHO.

A free medical camp was also held during the day in collaboration with 40 Assam Rifles wherein about 50 patients were screened.
